The series begins with the introduction of Monkey D. Luffy, who dreams of becoming the Pirate King. Luffy is inspired by the legendary pirate Shanks. After eating the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Devil Fruit that grants him rubbery powers, he becomes a rubber man, but loses his ability to swim. Luffy sets out to find a crew and the legendary treasure known as One Piece. He’s determined to make his dream come true.
